C-store operators Musgrave Budgens Londis (MBL) and Booker have introduced initiatives to improve their fresh and chilled offers.
MBL hopes to increase sales of fresh and chilled in 40 Londis stores, after launching a fresh produce trial from its retailer service centre in Andover, Hampshire.
The trial, which offers 30 prepacked fruit and vegetable items under the Londis own label, initially ran in 20 stores but has been rolled out to a further 20 after sales exceeded expectations.
Arjan Mehr, who runs a Londis store in Bracknell, Berkshire, took part in the trial. He said: “The quality is excellent and packaging is extremely professional. I predict my uplift in sales will be 20%.”
Booker has teamed up with Kerry Foods Direct to Store to launch Booker Fresh, which ensures preferential prices, range and service on chilled products for the company’s Premier members.
The scheme, which starts next month, will roll out to all Booker retail registered customers by the summer.
