MILLAR McCOWAN, manufacturer of Highland Toffee and Wham Bars, may win a reprieve from closure following informal enquiries about the business. The company went into receivership on August 11 with the loss of 149 jobs.
The costs of internal restructuring and the time taken to re-establish the brands following the formation of the new company has been blamed for the cash and creditor pressures.
The company was itself formed out of receivership through the acquisition of Scottish confectionery companies John Millar and Sons and McCowan's in 2005.
