Convenience stores are a key player in sandwich chain Subway’s ambitious growth plans which were announced last week.
The US-owned chain, which plans 600 new sites in the next two years, is keen to open more franchises within c-stores.
“Subway concessions in convenience stores are proving to be an incredibly successful format and will play a large role in the coming few years,” a spokeswoman said.
The chain is set to plough more than £60m into the expansion, which will see it achieve its goal of opening 2,010 stores by 2010.
Subway has been growing at the rate of five stores a week in the UK since 2000.
