The Sun newspaper is launching a nationwide selfie competition to drive retail footfall ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Sun’s latest campaign, running in more than 6,000 retailers across the UK, encourages customers to visit their local store for a chance to win cash prizes. Shoppers must take a selfie in front of special in-store branding, showing off their best goal-scoring celebration.
The best selfie, as judged by The Sun, will win £1,000 in cash each week for the duration of the World Cup, starting from June 4. Customers simply need to upload the photo to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #suncelebration.
Kate Bird, chief marketing officer for The Sun, said “The Sun is the home of football and our Sun Celebration campaign will build excitement around the World Cup across the country. Whether you’re a ‘dabber’, a’ knee slider’ or a ‘shirt swinger’ we hope everyone gets in the Sun selfie spirit and that England players will be emulating some of our best Sun Celebrations (regularly) throughout the tournament.”
