Thomas Magennis, manager of Eurospar Mulkerns in Newry, Northern Ireland, says Shloer is currently the top in-store seller, thanks to Spar’s ‘Twelve Deals of Christmas’ campaign.
“For the 12 weeks up until Christmas, a different product has a deep cut promotion each week under the ‘Twelve Deals of Christmas’ campaign and it has bought a lot of footfall in,” he said.
“The best-seller we’ve seen is Shloer by quite some way. The high sales are because it is huge value compared to its normal price.
“It was on offer for 89p per bottle, down from the normal price of £2.20 per bottle. That’s around a third of its price!
“One week it could be a 12 pack of Coke, then reduced priced Christmas tubs – this week it is £1.30 for a four pack of Heinz Baked Beans. Some deals offer fresh lines too. The deep cut price provided great volume of sales and high footfall for us.”
