There was a helping hand available for Scottish retailers over Christmas as members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) volunteered to spend time in
c-stores.
The Scottish Grocers Federation recruited 61 MSPs to take part in its Christmas Service Initiative, which places politicians behind the till in order to give them an insight into the pressures facing retailers.
Participating groups included Spar, Scottish Co-op, Scotmid, David Sands, Botterills and LBA Co-op.
MSP John Swinney visited Pete and Kay Cheema's Spar store in Meigle, near Dundee. Pete said: "We're delighted that the MSPs took the time to visit and listen to our concerns about running a store today. It's definitely worthwhile, not only for us and the MSP involved, but for the wider c-store sector."
