Simply Fresh has opened a store in St James’s Park tube station in central London, the first of a series of outlets planned by the symbol group for transport hubs in the capital.
The 800sq ft store is owned by Jasvinder Randhawa and was formerly an unaffiliated independent store with a predominantly CTN offer. The Simply Fresh team have remodelled the store to include more grocery, microwaveable food to go, and fresh fruit and veg, which is displayed outside the store. Hot coffee will be available shortly.
On turning left when you enter the store there is a range of snacks, sandwiches and quick-to-prepare lunchtime items, with fresh vegetables and meals for tonight on the right.
Transport for London (TfL) head of retail Mike Ward commented: “It’s really fantastic to introduce one of our retail tenants to an innovative new grocery concept. Small businesses are a key part of our retail strategy and we are committed to supporting them to ensure their businesses operate successfully.”
Simply Fresh managing director Kash Khera added: ”We are extremely excited about this new partnership with TfL and are looking forward to helping independent retailers maximise the opportunities. The SImply Fresh brand is very much aligned with TfL’s vision to bring a healthy and local offer to the network.”
The new outlet is Simply Fresh’s second in the capital, with further outlets in the pipeline for later in the year.
