CJ Lang & Son Ltd, owners and operators of Spar, has donated a cheque for over £14,000 to charity partner NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service in Scotland.
The money was raised through the sale of single-use carrier bags, which since October 2014 cost customers 5p per bag.
Launched two years ago and delivered by trained volunteers, the ChildLine Schools Service gives nine to 11-year-olds the awareness they need to recognise abuse, and to seek help sooner.
Zoe Strong, corporate fundraiser for NSPCC Scotland said “I would like to thank the whole CJ Lang team for their support. The carrier bag initiative has been a real success, raising a fantastic amount for children, and that’s thanks to the commitment and generosity of everyone involved.
“The money raised will really help us keep children safe from harm, giving them a brighter, happier future.”
NSPCC Scotland is one of many chosen charities across the country to benefit from the funds raised by Spar stores in Scotland.
