A Paisley retailer has died after being attacked in his store.
Javaid Ali (48) of Sunshine Grocers on Green Street in Paisley, Renfrewshire was stabbed in the neck while working in the store on June 15.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital where he remained in a critical condition for two weeks before passing away as a result of his wounds. The father of three had run the store for four years and was well known in the area.
In a statement released by Strathclyde Police, his family appealed for anyone with information to come forward. “Javaid was a wonderful father and husband, and a great friend to many. He was a great provider for his family and everyone who knows him would describe him as an exceptional hard-worker who had great warmth in his heart for those less fortunate. His loss is devasting for us and it will take a very long time for us to accept it. It is the nature of his death that is so traumatic for us to deal with.”
Two years ago Javaid had successfully defended his store against a raiders wielding a crossbow and a knife.
Strathclyde Police are continuing to appeal for information.
