Martin McColl is to invest £19m in installing an advanced epos system in its 450 convenience stores and 850 CTNs.
The new infrastructure, provided by Torex Retail, will include a CCTV integration feature which automatically captures digital video if a suspicious transaction is detected.
It also allows managers to watch live CCTV coverage of their store off the premises.
An online account management service will enable home news delivery customers to change their order and settle bills over the internet.
The integrated system will see the introduction of touchscreen pos retail processor units in each store, along with customer-facing video screens and handheld terminals for managing stock on the shelves.
Martin McColl finance director Jonathan Miller said: "Following a full-scale review of our in-store systems and pos strategy, we chose Torex to provide us with a completely new IT infrastructure which will increase the productivity of our stores and enhance the overall customer experience."
