Retailers are being urged to embrace new technology to help tackle crime.
In the wake of last month’s riots, Simon Gordon chairman of online crime reporting tool Facewatch has called on retailers to use every resource at their disposal to protect their businesses.
“Tools such as Facewatch give the police the details they need online,” said Gordon. “They enable c-stores to take a pro-active approach to sharing information within their local business community and with the police to deter criminals and reduce crime.”
Facewatch allows retailers to report crime instantly, rather than waiting for the police to arrive. The online technology means that CCTV footage can be uploaded, along with an incident report that can also be distributed to other businesses in the area.
C-Store readers can receive a 25% discount for the scheme if they quote Convenience Store. A group of 10 or more retailers in the same area joining together can obtain a further 10% discount. Offer ends October 31. Call Facewatch on 0845 437 9629, or go to www.facewatch.co.uk.
