A Tesco Express has had its licence suspended for 28 days for selling alcohol to under-18s.
The store in Broadwater Street, Worthing, was one of three in West Sussex to fail test purchases during a nationwide police and Trading Standards sting in October (C-Store, January 12, p5).
Worthing police licensing officer Michael Webb had called for a three-month suspension. He said: "It is clear the operation and management of the premises has fallen well below that expected of competent operators."
Worthing Borough Council's licence review was initially delayed after Tesco's officials deluged the local licensing committee with paperwork. Councillor Jacqui Marsh, chairman of the licensing committee, said its members had needed more time to work through the documents.
Crawley Borough Council has delayed its decision on the licences of two further Tesco stores until next month.
