Camelot has announced the release of a new National Lottery TV advert, featuring Cotswolds-based independent retailers Jon and Michaela Maslen-Jones.
The advert, which is set to air on 7 February until the £14m Lotto Valentine’s Superdraw on 13 February, features the owners of Stow News Post Office in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.
Jon and Michaela, who have been married 22 years, were selected from a number of retailer couples to appear in the new Lotto advert that was filmed in December last year.
Camelot retail director, Duncan Malyon, said: “Having real retailers like Jon and Michaela in our adverts is just one of the many ways we are growing our relationships with our 44,000 retail partners across the UK. We’re so glad they enjoyed the experience and really appreciate them taking the time out from their shop to do so.
“We’re continuing to invest in our retailers throughout 2019, after we introduced of a range of incentives and improvements last year that resulted in a number of big positives – including our Site, Stock, Sell in-store execution programme, which has already rewarded retailers with over £600,000.”
Michaela Maslen-Jones said: “The day was amazing from start to finish. I could not believe the work that goes into making such a short advert.
“Some friends of ours bought a shop in the country, and we thought it was a great idea. As time went by, we looked into it and began to like the idea more and more. We’d previously said that if we were to win the lottery, we’d move to the Cotswolds. We didn’t end up winning the lottery, but we sold our house and bought the post office business, enabling us to move to the Cotswolds.
“It’s great that people across the UK are receiving help and support through the Good Cause projects – and it’s incredible that every single person who plays The National Lottery is contributing to them.”
