Tesco has released its interim results for 2024, showing growth and market gains. Among the deep jungle of figures within the document, there is relevant news for the convenience sector, and the group’s intentions for it.
So far this year, it has integrated 397 net new Booker retail partners, taking the total outlets to 7,787 across Premier, Londis, Budgens and Family Shopper, it says. The data also confirmed that so far in 2024, the group has opened six One Stop stores, alongside its other formats.
The report also highlights an improved level of customer satisfaction, volume driven sales growth – with like for like retail sales up 2.9% - and, in keeping with improving figures on loyalty schemes from the latest ACS report, a growth in all markets for Clubcard.
It also revealed the largest ever increase in store colleague pay and improved parental and wellbeing offerings, culminating in standout colleague satisfaction results and winning Employer of the Year (Retailer) at the Grocer Gold Awards 2024.
Ken Murphy, chief executive, said: “Our strong momentum allows us to continue to focus on value, quality, innovation and the broader customer experience, whilst investing in growth opportunities in a disciplined, returns-focused way.
