Parfetts Cash & Carry has bought Blakemore Wholesale’s Middlesbrough depot for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition by the employee-based wholesaler follows the closure of three of Blakemore’s other depots, in Killingworth, Barnsley and Newport, as it looks to sell its cash & carry estate.
The purchase takes the number of Parfetts’ branches to seven. The deal will complete on Friday 22 June and trading will commence on Monday 25 June.
All Blakemore Wholesale Middlesbrough employees will transfer to Parfetts with the purchase.
Parfetts joint managing director Greg Suszczenia said: “Retailers in Teesside will now join other Parfetts customers in benefiting from everyday low prices, a powerful three weekly promotional programme, strong availability and expansive range.
“Couple that with the industry leading Go Local retail fascia, we’re certain the trusted Parfetts formula will prove to be a great success in this new branch.”
In May, United Wholesale Grocers acquired Blakemore’s Gateshead depot.
