Amanda Jones, a former Conviviality and Nisa executive, has been appointed retail sales director at the Post Office.
Jones joins from Conviviality Plc, where she held a number of roles including chief operating officer until the company’s collapse in April 2018. Prior to Conviviality, she was chief operating officer at Nisa and also held senior roles at Marks & Spencer and Waitrose.
The Post Office said Jones’ experience of Bargain Booze franchise models at Conviviality, and as COO of Nisa, was especially relevant given the company had many branches run by retail partners such as WHSmith, the Co-op and McColl’s.
Post Office retail chief executive, Debbie Smith, said: “I am delighted that Amanda is joining our leadership team. Today’s post offices operate in competitive environments, and she brings a wealth and breadth of retail sector experience.
“Amanda will play a valuable role as we continue to modernise and grow our business, and ensure post offices matter even more to customers and communities across the UK for many generations to come.”
Amanda Jones said: “This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a commercial business with a social purpose. Community will always be central to the Post Office but with an increasingly commercial edge that will benefit customers. I look forward to contributing to the Post Office’s plans to develop its network and enhance its retail proposition.”
