Select & Save has appointed Tony Houlston to the newly-created position of head of sales.

Houlston, who joins Select & Save from Simply Fresh where he was sales and development director, already worked for the Midlands-based symbol group as its sales development manager between 2003 and 2007.

Select & Save managing director Andrew King said: “I’m pleased we have been able to secure Tony and I’m looking forward to working with him again.

“It’s an interesting time for all of us in convenience but the timing of this appointment provides us with a great opportunity to accelerate the building of our member network and more importantly support our current members to become bigger and better.

“Exciting times, we’ve got lots to do and we now have our management team in place.”

Houlston added: “I am looking forward to the challenges that the new role offers and using all of my experience to help play my part to help grow Select & Save, whether that be new retailers or supporting the wider team working with our existing members.”

The move follows the recent addition of One Stop Franchise’s former head of commercial Galen Levi as trading director.
