British firm Sharpham Park has introduced a range of pasta using organic Spelt and available-in-home compostable packaging.

Sharpham Park Organic Spelt Pasta

Made in the UK by an artisan Italian pasta maker using Sharpham Park’s Spelt flour, the new pasta is ideal for vegans and those following a plant-based diet.

The high quality pasta has a much rougher surface than conventional pasta, allowing it to cook evenly and absorb the perfect amount of sauce.

The first three shapes in the range are: Gigli Rigati, made from Sharpham Park organic white spelt flour; Casarecce made from Sharpham Park organic wholegrain spelt flour; and Conchiglie, made from Sharpham Park organic bakers blend flour, which is a special 60/40% mix of organic wholegrain and organic white spelt flour.

Founder Roger Saul said: “We’re delighted to be launching this pasta as it’s taken us a long time to work out the best way to create a delicious-tasting premium spelt pasta in an ethical and sustainable manner.

“Having the pasta manufactured in the UK by an Italian pasta maker has ensured our food miles are as low as possible. We’re delighted to be launching our home compostable packaging which we believe is the way forward for food packaging and one which we will be utilising throughout our range in 2020.”

The organic Spelt pasta range retails at £3.99 for 400g and is available in cases of 10.
